My Approach
capturing personalities and incorporating your magicPoses and prompts are important, but the true magic comes from getting to know you - what brings you joy, your hobbies, your inside jokes. Allowing things to unfold naturally, going with the flow, and letting kids lead all create room for genuine images.
The photos that mean the most to me are the ones that are filled with emotion and speak to my children's personalities. When we're together, i'll capture the magical moments that display your most authentic self.
The Face Behind the Camera
Hi, I'm MelissaMother of three, follower of Jesus, lover of coffee and art, and proud cat lady.
My passion for photography began when I took a one-day photography class in the 7th grade, and I was hooked. I immediately saved for my first point-and-shoot, upgraded to a DSLR in high school, and have immersed myself in photography ever since. But what really brings me joy is telling the unique stories of those I work with. Seeing personalities come alive in front of the camera is a beautiful thing!
Meet the Fam
My whole heart, my biggest support, and your biggest fans! They are always ready to be my test subjects for new ideas, to offer feedback (if my ideas are cringe, my son will tell me), and to oggle over all of my brides' full glam (my daughters believe I take pictures of princesses for a living, and they're not wrong).
When we have photos taken once in a blue moon, the sessions are smoothest when we incorporate a family activity - even something like eating pizza on top of a parking garage! We love to have fun, so why not do that in front of the camera? The kids are more willing to smile when they have a prop (or a snack), and when the photographer takes an interest in their present selves. I take these notes with me to every session - not just with kids. Meeting my clients where they're at and connecting with them in a low-pressure way allows all of us to come out of our shells and create beautiful memories together.
